Can You Recommend a Good Printer?

Because our curriculum is an online membership to a website, and because all the lesson plans are digital PDF downloads, you’ll want to think about how you can print inexpensively.

In our home, we have an HP laser printer, but we own a business — you might not need something that fancy!

We also have an Epson EcoTank, and it’s very cost effective. We just use black ink, and we choose the default settings of “fast” and “grayscale” so that we never use color, to save money. But that’s just us. 🙂

The Cost of Printing

Using the Epson EcoTank, the cost for our family to print with “grayscale” and only black ink is around $0.03 per page. With six children homeschooling each day, we used ink for the following subjects:

Bible – 4-8 pages/week – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.24
History – 4-5 pages/week – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.15
Copywork – 5 pages/week – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.15
Word Power or Phonics – student worksheets (10 pages/week), readers (5 pages/week) – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.09
Spelling – 5-6 pages/week, per student – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.18
Grammar – student worksheets (5 pages/week), teacher’s guide online (10 pages/week) – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.45
Writing – 8 pages/week – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.24
Vocabulary – 1 page/week – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.03
Typing – 5 pages/week – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.15
Math – student worksheets (5 pages/week), teacher’s guide (4 pages/week) – Cost to Print Weekly: $0.27
