What is our “Hear, Learn, Keep, Do” Method?

When YHWH wants to teach mankind something, He follows a very specific method that I can copy in my homeschooling. First, YHWH clearly presents information. In this case, He used the things He had created, which can be seen by every person no matter where he lives, to make Himself plain to all people. The sun, moon, and stars are visible to all. The amazing capabilities of the human body are visible to all. The metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly… the water cycle… the fossil record — these are visible to all.

Our Philosophy of Education at Homeschooling Torah

People often ask what makes Homeschooling Torah different. The answer is actually quite simple. When our children were young, we wanted our days to revolve around Scripture. We wanted the Word of God to be more than a subject we studied for thirty minutes before...

Why We Started Homeschooling Torah

People sometimes ask us why we started Homeschooling Torah. The short answer is that we wanted to teach our children Scripture—not just as one subject among many, but as the foundation for everything else. We wanted the Bible to be their primary textbook. When our...

We are VERY new to learning Hebrew, as in, we have learned Alef, and that’s it! Soooo, this may be premature, but I would love for us to learn to write the title to each week’s Parashah (i.e. this week is “Emor”). Is there a resource for that that you know of? I’ve poked around HebrewforChristians.com, but didn’t see any clear instruction along these lines. I don’t even know where to start learning how to do this! I DID print out a Hebrew writing grid, but THEN what?! Thanks for your help! We love your resources!

Amy, that is a great idea. Here is what I would do. BibleHub (online website) has a great lexicon tool. I’d go to their website and go to the first verse of this week’s Torah portion. (For Emor, for example, that would Leviticus 21:1.) Then click on “lexicon.”

Here is a link for Emor, Lev. 21:1 —
    http://biblehub.com/lexicon/leviticus/21-1.htm

Now look in the verse until you see the name of the Torah portion. (Torah portions are named after the first word in Hebrew, but that is often different from what we can see in our English lexicons.)

So do you see “Emor”? Now you’ll have a picture that you can use to write it.

    I hope this helps! ~Anne
