Session 14

Anne ElliottSPEAKER: Anne Elliott

DESCRIPTION: Music, art, and literature are important subjects for our children, even required by law in many places. However, Torah-observant families face a unique struggle, because much of the “arts” are filled with humanistic ideas and even immorality. How can we teach these subjects in a biblical way? We’ll share ideas and specific teaching techniques, all based on Scripture.

DATE/TIME: Thursday, August 10 — 3:00 PM Eastern

I have seven children, five of which are being homeschooled this year (grades 2, 4, 7, 10, 11), as well as two adult children. I’ve been married for 24 years, and we live in central Michigan, where my husband is helping to start a Sabbath fellowship. I am the creator and founder of HomeschoolingTorah.

    Hi Anne,

Thank you for all the wonderful information being given this week during your 2017 Homeschool Conference, your work is greatly appreciated. As I watched your session on teaching fine arts you mentioned a resource book that talks about the 20 or so known plots in the world of books, and you use it to determine the plot of books your kids read, I think. Would it be possible to get the title of that book from you? Thanks again for all the great information.

Yes! 🙂 It is called *Twenty Master Plots* by Ronald Tobias. Here is a link to it on Amazon: http://amzn.to/2uUYbYC.

Please note that he is not a believer, and there may be an occasional swear word in this book, which is typical of books for writers, sadly.

Understood, thank you for the link, will definitely check it out. Appreciate all you do. We will be purchasing your American History curriculum once it’s released, and very excited to go through all of your history curriculum eventually.???? Thanks again.

What is our “Hear, Learn, Keep, Do” Method?

When YHWH wants to teach mankind something, He follows a very specific method that I can copy in my homeschooling. First, YHWH clearly presents information. In this case, He used the things He had created, which can be seen by every person no matter where he lives, to make Himself plain to all people. The sun, moon, and stars are visible to all. The amazing capabilities of the human body are visible to all. The metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly… the water cycle… the fossil record — these are visible to all.

Why I Care So Deeply About Learning Hebrew

If you were sitting at my table right now, I’d tell you to pull up a chair, grab a cool drink, maybe a pen and something to write on—and most of all, grab your Bible. Because this conversation about Hebrew isn’t really just about Hebrew. It’s about language. It’s about...
