What age or level do you suggest starting this writing program with? It seems I would have to water down some of the assignments a good bit for my 2nd grader who has struggled with writing in the past.

I think it’s hard for little ones to write until they’ve had time to be “filled up” a bit, with lots of reading and life experience. Also, if they are still “decoding” words for themselves or still learning handwriting, then writing will be tough. I would suggest waiting on writing until you start to see a child pick up a full-length chapter book *on his own* just for the fun of reading. That would be a good indicator that his mind is starting to fill up (like a sponge) and has some ideas that want to be squeezed out. 🙂 Until then, I suggest Level 2 of our phonics, which includes plenty of dictation, plus copywork (of Scripture). Does this help? (Going now to put this on the Introduction page, because others are asking the same question. Thank you!)

Yes, very helpful! Thanks. Yes, he’s “full”… he reads the encyclopedia and the car owner’s manual for fun! 😉 I think at this point we’ll start with the copy work per your suggestion, and then go from there.

These links aren’t working.

Good morning! Would you try logging out and logging back in again (top-right side of the screen)? And if this doesn’t fix it, will you let me know, and I’ll have one of our tech guys look into it? It’s working fine here on my computer, but I think I can see more than you just because I’m an “admin” on the site. Hugs, ~Anne

How do you recommend doing all the Language Arts subjects in one day? Since there’s Spelling, Grammar, Writing, etc., do you do ALL of these in the 30 min time slot for Language Arts? I’m having trouble figuring out how to do all those lessons in that short time. Maybe I’m missing something? Thanks!

just a correction on your writing week 1 assignment, It should say to read Genesis: finding out roots starting on page 26, not page 28. No worries we found it 🙂
Anne Elliott says
Thank you, Edith! Would you be able to help me with something? I’m concerned there may be a new edition out of *Genesis: Finding Our Roots*. Could you check to see what year your book was published? Thank you so much!

I’m trying to open the “student book” and it keeps coming up with a timed out link. Has it been updated?
CarmenKublik says
I’m having the same issue as mentioned in the last comment on this thread, the student book link times out.
CarmenKublik says
Oops! I just read the bold red comment at the top of the thread, I refreshed the page and got the student book download right away.
