We are VERY new to learning Hebrew, as in, we have learned Alef, and that’s it! Soooo, this may be premature, but I would love for us to learn to write the title to each week’s Parashah (i.e. this week is “Emor”). Is there a resource for that that you know of? I’ve poked around HebrewforChristians.com, but didn’t see any clear instruction along these lines. I don’t even know where to start learning how to do this! I DID print out a Hebrew writing grid, but THEN what?! Thanks for your help! We love your resources!

Amy, that is a great idea. Here is what I would do. BibleHub (online website) has a great lexicon tool. I’d go to their website and go to the first verse of this week’s Torah portion. (For Emor, for example, that would Leviticus 21:1.) Then click on “lexicon.”

Here is a link for Emor, Lev. 21:1 —
    http://biblehub.com/lexicon/leviticus/21-1.htm

Now look in the verse until you see the name of the Torah portion. (Torah portions are named after the first word in Hebrew, but that is often different from what we can see in our English lexicons.)

So do you see “Emor”? Now you’ll have a picture that you can use to write it.

    I hope this helps! ~Anne
